COVID-19 Policy and Instructions

  • The Practice Leader will be downstairs to answer any questions.

  • Masks are Required. Disposable masks will be available at the entrance. Masks may be removed while meditating and facing the wall if distracting. They should be worn at all other times.

  • People with any signs of illness such as cough, runny nose, fever, headache should not attend.

  • Even if you know your symptoms have an innocent cause such as allergies, others don’t know this! You should not attend.

  • Go immediately to the Zendo. Don’t congregate on the first floor for small talk. We will take some time to chat upstairs after meditation but don’t want to disturb others who have started at the beginning.

  • It’s fine to enter after the first bell if you wish to avoid contact. Just quietly find a seat.

  • Zabutons are located in marked spaces that have been measured out to provide a safe 6 foot distance from each other. Do not move the zabutons.

  • Zafus, Chairs, Benches, and other accessories are now found in the main Zendo to keep people out of the smaller supply room. Pick your accessories and place them on the Zabuton of choice.

  • The session consists of our standard 30 minutes Zazen, 10 minutes Kinhin, and 30 minutes Zazen.

  • Take care not to get too close while performing Kinhin.

  • After Zazen is complete and the session has ended people are welcome to stay and talk in the Zendo about any and all topics.

  • We will not have coffee or tea, but bottled water is available in the kitchen area. Either drink it completely and put the bottle in the recycling area, or take the bottle with you when you leave.

  • Bathrooms will be equipped with disposable paper towels and hand sanitizer for your use.

  • If the governor announces code Yellow or Red practice will be suspended immediately. Even if, for example, it’s announced on Monday that we’re returning to code Yellow on Friday, the Wednesday practice will still be cancelled.
