Sunday October 18 |
A morning with Beth Goldring This will be the tenth annual visit by Beth to our community. For those who may not yet know her, Beth is a deeply compassionate, committed Buddhist; a warm, charming woman; and a wonderful teacher, who brings fresh perspectives from her years of living, working, and studying in Cambodia. We are expanding our usual Sunday service for this event. You are welcome to join us from the beginning, or during kinhin, at tea break, or at the start of Beth's talk. The full schedule is as follows. 7:30 - 8:00 Zazen (sitting meditation) 8:00 - 8:10 Kinhin (walking meditation) 8:10 - 8:40 Zazen 8:40 - 9:30 Tea Break 9:30 - 10:00 Zazen 10:00 - 10:10 Kinhin 10:10 - 10:30 Chanting, Bowing 10:30 - 11:30 Talk/discussion: Ethics and Happiness 11:30 - 12:30 Refreshments: bagels, cream cheese, fruit, coffee, tea, juice Beth was one of 20 women named Outstanding Women in Buddhism in 2008. In September 2009 she received the IMC Karuna award, and in December she will be honored by the Thai Princess. Beth and her small staff rely primarily on the money raised at events like this one to support their work. |

There is always plenty of work to do at the zendo. Drop by anytime to see the to-do lists posted on the wall by the front door. Fridays and Saturdays tend to be the days most people show up to work.
