Rohatsu - December 5-9, 2016

To celebrate the remembrance of Buddha's enlightenment, there will be a week of sitting starting Monday December 5 and ending Friday December 9. The schedule for each day will be a series of sittings and breaks similar to the Saturday Zazenkai schedule. All are welcome to come at any point and join us for one or many periods of Zazen. If you know of anyone in the local community who might be interested, please pass along the schedule. All sittings will take place at the Zendo in Lawrenceville.

Update: Stillpoint 2016 Fall Sesshin with Shokaku Okumura-Roshi a Great Success

Stillpoint was once again honored to offer our 2016 Fall Sesshin with Shohaku Okuura-Roshi October 7-9 2016.

Okumura-Roshi is the Abbott and head teacher at Sanshin-ji, a Zen community which he founded in Bloomington Indiana eleven years ago.  He has travelled widely throughout Asia, Europe and South America, as well as various retreat centers in the USA sharing the Dharma and is one of the world’s foremost scholars of Dogen Zenji’s teachings as well as being a dedicated life-long practioner of those teachings.

He has led numerous Stillpoint retreats here in Pittsburgh since 1996 and has provided inspirational spiritual guidance to our community for many years.  He has a very special connection with our sangha, and despite the fact that his travels are being reduced to safeguard his health, we are very fortunate that he wishes to continue his annual retreats with us

Stillpoint is a lay Zen community committed to making Zen practice truly accessible to the Pittsburgh community.  We offer introductions to zazen, a morning and evening sitting schedule, Sunday service, monthly day-long sittings, and occasional special events, including retreats led by visiting teachers.
